Our programs
A pathway for every stage of the journey
From first touch to elite performance — FNAE delivers netball programs supporting athletes, coaches and umpires at every level across Queensland.
Getting started
Participation Teams
Our teams provide opportunities to play in local competitions, build friendships and develop skills in a culturally safe and supportive environment. Team divisions are determined by player ability, coaching capacity and competition requirements.
Next steps
Development Academies
Our development academies help players strengthen their foundations and progress towards intermediate skills. Sessions focus on technique, movement, teamwork, confidence and understanding the game.
High performance
Performance & Elite Academies
Our performance and elite academies provide structured development for athletes ready for greater challenge. Programs may include specialist coaching, tactical development, strength and conditioning, performance preparation and athlete education.
Places are limited, with selection considering demonstrated netball experience, work ethic, commitment and character.
More ways to get involved
Emerging talent
Emerging Talent Pathway Program
Our Emerging Talent Pathway Program identifies and develops emerging First Nations talent through clinics, coaching and connections with experienced athletes and role models. Activities cater to different ages and abilities, helping players build confidence and prepare for future pathway opportunities.
Competition
High-performance competition
FNAE has secured a licence to enter Netball Queensland's Ruby North competition in 2027, creating an additional competitive pathway for First Nations netball athletes.
Coaches & umpires
Coach and umpire development
We support aspiring and developing netball coaches and umpires through practical experience, mentoring and connections to further development opportunities.
Community
Community clinics and outreach
We deliver netball clinics and community activities that encourage participation, develop skills and connect young people with positive role models.
Beyond the court
Wellbeing, leadership and culture
Our approach extends beyond on-court performance. We connect participants with education and support that strengthen wellbeing, cultural identity, leadership and preparation for life beyond sport.
Partnerships
Stronger together
We work with sporting organisations, schools, community groups, businesses and supporters to expand access to meaningful opportunities for First Nations people.
Who can participate
Designed for First Nations participants
Our netball pathways are designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants aged 12 and above. Age, experience and eligibility requirements vary by program and are outlined in each registration or expression of interest form.
